  • Abbott Laboratories in Worcester, MA seeks an entry level associate engineer to be part of the Project Engineering group
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 0-2 years of related industry experience required
  • Duties typically fall into three categories: project management, engineering design and commissioning/validation
  • Project management tasks include scope definition, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and progress reporting
  • Engineering design tasks include design, specification, procurement, fabrication management and installation of biologics equipment, utilities and facilities
  • Commissioning/validation tasks include execution of test protocols to confirm that the system is designed, installed and operating correctly prior to validation
  • Basic Qualifications: •BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is required
  • •0 – 2 years of experience in engineering design of biologics equipment, utilities, and facilities
  • •Candidates must be able to lift 25 lbs and negotiate pipe racks/ ladders
  • •Teamwork, leadership and the ability to maintain constructive relationships with personnel from various disciplines at all levels in the organization are desired competencies
  • The successful candidate should demonstrate integrity, reliability, dedication, adaptability, innovation and self-motivation
  • Preferred Qualifications: •A background including course work or internships related to project or process engineering is preferred
  • •Experience related to the design of basic biologics bulk drug substance unit operations involving fermentation, cell culture and protein purification •Experience using related equipment including bioreactors, process tanks, TFF filtration, chromatography, filtration, centrifuges, CIP skids, USP Purified Water Systems, WFI Water Systems, Clean Steam Generators, etc
