  • Job Description : Cooper Interconnect, located in Chelsea, MA, has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Design Engineer
  • Cooper Interconnect is a business unit within Cooper Crouse-Hinds, LLC . PRIMARY FUNCTION(S): Reports to the Director of Global Engineering and Marketing and collaborates closely with the Plant Manager. This position is accountable to plan, design, develop and implement major plant engineering projects in order to create and maintain efficient and safe utilization of plant facilities to affect the most economical manufacturing cost JOB DUTIES: * Lead a 3-4 person team of Manfacturing engineers
  • * Oversee the custom Product Development Engineering function for projects
  • This involves the direct application of engineering practice, theory and current technology necessary to solve problems related to engineering design and manufacturing
  • * Respond in a timely manner to requests made by sales and/or marketing for an estimate of expense and time necessary to develop a particular product
  • * Respond timely and provide consultation for requests made by current and prospective customers for an estimate of expense and time necessary to develop a particular product
  • * Oversee the activities associated with codes and standards, writing organizations for national and product liability and litigation
  • * Works closely with domestic locations and suppliers to provide direction and maintain project momentum
  • * Oversee the establishment of test plans, combining standard procedures with special procedures, as necessary, to ensure that complete and accurate data is collected during manufacturing testing
  • * Establish complete technical specifications, based on functional specifications, on which product design modification is based
  • * Insure that engineering documentation is being generated to establish standards
  • * Develop technical data to be used by Manufacturing and Materials groups for production and tooling
  • * Support Materials in the proper selection of components that are within budget * Support the units commitment to a total quality management system including ISO 9000

  • Bachelor's or Assocates degree in Engineering, or a related technical field

  • 8-10 years of Manufacturing, Design or Applications Engineering experience
  • Experience with military and aero-space connector or cable assemblies, preferred

  • 2-3 years prior proven Engineering managment expereince
  • 3
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cabling designs and methods is required

  • Must be computer literate with competent oral and written communication skills, must effectively communicate with all levels of personnel5
  • Ability to establish and maintain constructive interpersonal relationships and function within a progressive team environment is required

  • Must possess experience in training line personnel on process improvements

  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
