Aerospace Structures group works with NASA, Military and large commercial companies on exciting composite structures ATK has created new position for an Engineering Manager-Aircraft/Composites to provide overall leadership and direction to the department to achieve technical and schedule goals
Drive technical excellence by upholding technical standards, identifying and mitigating risks and assuring the technical resources are available
Define role and performance expectations for subordinates and provide performance appraisals
Provide input to support program and department budgets
Provide technical input and support for proposals and projects in addition to ongoing programs
Provide leadership for implementation of new programs including the transition to production
Requirements: · Eight years or more experience as an engineer directly involved in all phases of the manufacture of aerospace composite products
· Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace or manufacturing engineeringor equivalent experience · Five years or more experience directly supervising engineers in at least two of the following areas: Manufacturing Engineering, CNC Programming
· Five years of experience in a manufacturing environment building composite parts for Aircraft
· Proven ability to effectively manage cross-functional teams and multiple projects concurrently
· Budget management and manpower planning experience required
· High level of organizational skill and ability to work with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment
· Results oriented, self motivated / self reliant, team player · Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to engage an organization at all levels · Lean manufacturing experience · Functional knowledge of Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), SPC and Six Sigma quality principles Other Desirable Skills: · Project management skills · Provide technical support for proposals · IR&D planning and budgeting · Effective in persuasive written and verbal communication
· Team building and team conflict management · Proven ability to establish and enhance engineering systems · Experience with aircraft manufacturing including primary and secondary composite structures and assemblies
