• The successful candidate will join a group of PhD scientists responsible for conducting comprehensive search and analysis of technical information in suport of research, planning, business development and intellectual property protection
• Expert searching using a variety of commercial online databases and traditional information tools will be an important component of this work. Projects will include state-of-the-art critical reviews, patent studies related to novelty, validity, and freedom of operation, preparation of current-awareness surveys, and development of in-house databases. Members of the Information Research and Analysis group serve as integral members of the technical staff of ExxonMobil Research and Engineering, dealing with many areas of chemistry, polymer and materials science, and petroleum and petrochemical products and processes Tool development in cutting-edge information analysis and delivery mechanisms is encouraged
• The qualified candidate will have:
• Proficiency in patent/technical literature searching or a keen interest in learning professional techniques in search and analysis of patents and technical literature Experience in the use of professional patent information sources such as Derwent World Patents Index, IFI Claims, EnCompass Literature and Patents, and Chemical Abstracts databases is preferred, along with some knowledge of patents and intellectural property
• Experience in the petroleum or petrochemical industry is a plus
