During the Spring 2010 rotation, the student should learn the business objectives of the Siemens Energy Inc
HVS group, and how the student is expected to support those objectives
The student will be expected to gain an entry-level understanding of the national electrical power generation, transmission and distribution system
Further, a basic grasp of the equipment used in AIS and GIS high voltage substations should be demonstrated by the end of the first rotation
Also, the student will be expected to provide support to senior level engineers as directed, use the internet for technical research when needed, and develop / modify documents and drawings produced by the HVS unit
- Skills To Acquire The student should be proficient in the MS office suite, including Word, Excel, Power Point and Access among others
The Student should demonstrate the ability to modify drawings in Auto CAD
In addition, the basics of substation design, including main circuit equipment uses and ratings, bus design selection and bus connector selection should be demonstrated
