Engineering Designer General Summary: The Engineering Designer is a resource to the engineering, procurement, and manufacturing departments
Receiving directions from a Project Engineer or Design Supervisor, this position will support engineering, procurement, and manufacturing in producing consistent, accurate drawings of assemblies and components. In addition, the position will be responsible for maintaining Bills of Material and general manufacturing questions. Design work is a key component of this position and the successful candidate will be expected to execute everything from minimally to highly complex design projects Essential Functions: 1
Determines scale, performs complex mathematical calculations and prepares layouts for detailing

Implements required changes to resolve field problems and improve product performance and reliability

Assist in analysis of problem areas and recommends solutions
4
Assists with building prototypes and in validation through testing (when available)
5
Review customer’s specifications and propose designs to meet those specifications
6
Read and reviewing detailed multiple specification books issued by a customer
7
Develop user manuals (rig books) for use by both the customer and the offshore service personnel
8
Work with engineers, sales and the Proposal group to decide on what equipment to propose
9
Correspond and interface with engineers overseas and vendors
10
Create customer drawings of the proposed equipment to be included into the customer proposal
11
Lead and assist Designers and Drafters in project related work
12
Reviewing and checking of drawings, including detailed tolerance studies

8 + years experience in mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic design of subsea products

Knowledge and experience with SolidWorks software or other 3D software

Proficient using AutoCad in generating detail drawings and schematics
4
Ability to produce complex technical design layouts and proposals
Experience with Subsea Trees and/or Controls a benefit

Familiar with the creation of large equipment proposals is a plus
8
Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written
9
Ability to demonstrate initiative and assertiveness, the ability to plan and manage work in an efficient manner, and the ability to work well under stress and time pressures
10
Ability to delegate work to Designers and Drafters, and organize project detailing/design requirements
